Ayoob was the name of one of the prophets in Islam and is mentioned four times in the Quran (3:81, 4:163, 6:84, 21:83). According to ibn Kathir, the prophet Ayoob was a wealthy man with land, cattle and many children, however he lost everything when he became afflicted with a ravaging skin disease. After many years of suffering, he remained faithful to God and did not waver in his dedication to his religion and God cured him of his disease.
