(ii) Spelt ثناء, this name comes from the root word ‘TH N Y’ and means praise, appreciation and thankfulness. The Arabic phrase ‘الثناء لله’ translates as ‘praise/thanks be to God’.

Both variants of this name have positive connotations and would be spelt the same in English too. There is just the slight different in the pronounciation of the ‘S’ sound that differentiates both names.
